First I would like to express that this is not a Paid Review of said company, nor any links contain in this article had any monetary exchange with any one.

A little over 3 months ago (in May 2011) I was in search for a good, reliable web hosting and where can I find  those “reliable” web hosting companies? Where else but the mother of all web hosting talk and issues, this is the place where web masters and web hosting owners gather to talk and discuss issues regarding the web hosting industries and other technical issues.

I ran into the Beachcomber deals at the Resellers and hosting offers at WHT when I was looking for a resellers account. At that time Beachcomber had a deal for ( I still think the deal is still ongoing, see link).35 cents? for 90 days and there after was only at $35.97 for 3 months. The .35 cents was a “Test us out” deal. Basically even at .35 cents for 3 months I wasn’t going to take the deal if I was only going to move-out somewhere else due to poor server hosting, that makes no sense at all. Beachcomber  wanted to lure customers by offering such a great deal and to have such customers test it’s product.

The 3 months trial was over a couple of weeks ago and I started paying the normal price of $35.97 quarterly which amount to about $11.99 a month for 3 months, I can also save even more if I sign-up for Yearly, but Quaterly is fine with me as I learned my lesson from my other reseller account that I signed-up for 2 years. I learn that to never commit such a long term relationship with a certain companies. With Beachcomber, I’m pretty sure they would still be reliable even then.

I hate to jink this by making a good review of such a company that I fell good about, but I’m not new to Beachcomber, I sorta knew the existence of Beachcomber web hosting  for almost 10 years at WebHostingTalk when I was a member then, I never knew the member personally, but I had had read his posting at WHT and had been very positive, how did I not sign-up with Beachcomber back then if it was such a good company? Who knows, I had sign-up with Dathorn another popular reseller hosting company and also a member at WHT back in 2004-2005?. I had a not-so-good experience with Dathorn at that time, it claims that my scripts (phpLD – the directory script which BSL is using)) was causing some server issues, but could not or would not help me out on it. Funny that he has an issue with it, while the script is also hosted elsewhere does not have an issue. Dathorn had a good followers and stuck with him for a number of years and I think I was with them for about 1 1/2 years? until the server crash or bad/no help and the “you need to help yourself attitude”, found him to be a dictator, but others phrase him for being as such. People like myself with some or little technical know-how had no business being hosted by him, therefore I left and got me a cheaper host that was much, much cheaper and better hosting experience with an unknown web hosting company for a couple of years until it got bought out by a bigger company which had force me to upgrade to a virtual server or a dedicated server to try extracting more money from me, this is a shady known methods that some of the web hosting companies will tell you and this happens to me more than once, in fact I left a web hosting company before joining Beachcomber because of that, to note: I am actually still hosted by them with my other domain (1 more year to go), just move my primary domains here at the “Beach”.

Well this “review went away for a minute, but to continue with the review. After signing-up with Beachcomber I had received a call from Mark, I believe he is the owner of Beachcomber while I was away from the house and I was totally not expecting a call, I believe it was to confirm/verify the order I had place which actually made sense. The man (Mark) was very kind and professional when I talk to him on my phone and by the time I got home my account was set-up and ready. There was only one support I requested and that was within the couple of days after my site was online and it was my Awstats not having the update button, this feature is a must have for me, so I made a request and after him and several of his staff contacted me, that feature was in place and never had contacted with him ever since, which to me is a great service. If I am needing some kind of support, it just means the product is not good.

I have had a web hosting account since the 2000? with a web hosting company called bluedomino hosting back then, they were my first hosting company, not sure of this, but I think CoffeeCup (CoffeeCup is a software maker of FTP) owned that company?, the irony is, I had contact it’s support about FTP software so that I can login to my site so that I can upload my contents, the support staff dint have a single clue on what I was talking about. My hosting dint have a cPanel and had it’s own control panel which lack many features, not even sure if it had a built-in FTP which is why I contacted them in the first place. To make matters worst with this hosting company, my domain that I purchase with them, tried to bill me much more than the original price when I tried departing away from them. I eventually let the domain expired. Now that is another way for some shady web hosting company will try to extract more money from you, always never buy your domain from a web hosting companies – NEVER!!! even today, always buy them through a very reputable domain companies like Godaddy.com or Namecheap.com. I get mine at Namecheap.com, great domain company, lousy hosting (avoid them for web hosting, yet another bad experience with a hosting company).

To end this positive review of my 3 months experience with Beahcomber, I would like to recommend this web hosting company to those wishing a great host, if your looking for just that, why not try them out yourself for 90 days like I did with little or no commitment to you by taking this 90 day trial like I did (I think this deal is still on going, otherwise it would not be featured at WHT).

My webhosting specs:

Reseller Starter

20GB of Raid 10 Website Space
100GB of data transfer
(1) IP Address
Overselling allowed
Anonymous nameservers
Cpanel/WHM
Free Domain name reseller account
Free SSL upon request
All other features unlimited with the constraints of our TOS/AUP and available web space and bandwidth.
$ 12.99 per month
$ 35.97 per quarter ($ 11.99 per month)
$ 119.88 per year ($ 9.99 per month)

Almost on the same day I also got two other reseller accounts on my other domains.

1. with SemoWeb which on it’s first day had a dos attack and my site keeps going offline and or slow, but first day impression and this went almost for the entire month, some how I stuck with them because of some nice review at WHT. The price was cheap at about $2 a month? The site that is hosted seem to be running fair at the moment, but I might move away if I notice any glitches from their server again, mean time I will try them for the last month.

The other reseller account mainly is hosting my “park domain” until I get working on it and that is with Jolihost a Singaporian web hosting company and it is also for about $2 and some change per month. This hosting is much better than SemoWeb, nver noticing any downtime, fast and reliable, but this site I have just an aggregator which pulls content from other sites. (funny, I was going to link to it, but it’s own website is down, but not mine that is hosted with them).

I hope you find this “review” and some web hosting rants article and that you try Beachcomber as your next host, I’m glad I did, you might be too.
